please copy your Age Coordinator. Photos are also handy.
Wet Weather Protocols: Weekend Games
It is raining this weekend, will my game be on?
When the forecast is for extremely wet weather it is possible that many of the grounds will be unplayable.
Grounds can close at short notice throughout the day if it is deemed unsafe to play
For the most accurate & timely information, always check the NSFA Wet Weather Page to see if your ground is closed. This is the first place that the information will be posted.
Check Dribl to make sure your match hasn't moved to a different location and/or time.
BEFORE you leave for your match, please keep an eye on your team communications for last minute updates.
ALWAYS TURN UP! Unless a ground has been officially closed, you must attend the match, ready to play.
Unless grounds have been closed by the council, NSFA or the Club, your team must attend the ground and wait for the referee to decide whether ground is playable. Please communicate this to your team members.
If no appointed referee is in attendance, the two team managers/coaches should agree if the ground is playable (please refer to these NSFA guidelines for determining if a ground is safe to play) but as a basic guide, consider the following;
Is there surface water present?
Will playing cause further deterioration to the playing surface?
Is it safe to play on?
If the managers/coaches can't agree, the home ground team has the final call.
If a ground needs to be closed
Please advise NSFA via txt 0487 112 150 or email competitions@nsfa.asn.au and please copy your Age Coordinator. Photos are also handy.
We want to Forfeit
NB please DO NOT send an email to your Age Coordinator or the Club saying your team won’t be turning up to play (forfeiting) on the day. It is not acceptable to forfeit without going through the formal channels and providing 48 hours notice.
If grounds are OPEN, you MUST follow the above protocol and attend your match ready to play until advised differently.
Please read the Forfeit Policy for how to action late cancellations in extreme circumstances.
Wet Weather Protocols: Training
Training at all natural turf fields is to occur outside of goal mouths and there is to be no use of turf wickets whatsoever.
Please refrain from doing any repetitive work on the main playing field.
Pre season there is a NSFA NO BOOTS policy on all grass fields. Exceptions for Trial matches ONLY on Queen Elizabeth, St Ives Showground and Golden Jubilee.
Our synthetic fields LSC and Charles Bean, rarely close: For last minute wet weather updates on training nights, keep an eye on Facebook.
How to Forfeit a Match: in advance or with late notice, in extreme circumstances.
If your team has made every effort to find enough players to field a team but are still short, the manager will need to submit a Forfeit Form with at least 48 hours notice. For more information and to download the form, please refer to the Forfeit Policy.
The NSFA Handbook 2018 is a comprehensive guide to the above issues and much more.
Please read the Forfeit Policy for how to action late cancellations in extreme circumstances eg Covid
