Lindfield FC Skills Academy

The Lindfield Football Club (LFC) Skills Academy is dedicated to lifting players’ individual technical skills, enabling them to become more creative, well-rounded and effective team players. We offer both small group sessions and coach-to-one (or coach-to-two) sessions. Both formats will feature a customised, consistently applied curriculum, in which players will have many touches of the ball to help increase their technical capability.

• Group sessions: each group session will have no more than eight players in it, allowing plenty of personalised coaching. These sessions are available for players up to U/G14 (born 2010).

• Individual sessions: these sessions (which can include two players if desired) are customised to the needs and aspirations of the individual players. These sessions are available for players up to U/G16 (born 2008). To reserve an individual session, email skillsacademy@lindfieldfc.com.au 

• One-to-one goalkeeper training: these 60-minute sessions are open to girls and boys up to U16 (born 2008). Sessions are customised to the capabilities of the keepers and will be led by one of our highly experienced goalkeeper-specific coaches. Unlike many academies, the Lindfield FC Academy does not enter teams into regularly scheduled competitions. The best available sports science, as provided by Football Australia, indicates there can be too much of a good thing, and LFC does not believe seven days a week of participation in a single organised sport supports the physical and mental well-being of players.

Instead, the LFC Skills Academy suggests one technical individual-focused training session per week during a season, while matches and team training sessions are regularly occurring, is the most a player should do. Two sessions a week during the off-season is viable. Players are encouraged to practice the skills they have been focusing on at the Skills Academy in their own time, including with friends in a fun, social environment.
